In your song "Changed Up" you mention that your house caught on fire on the night of your prom. Is this true and how did this affect you?

Yes, a few years back my house caught fire the night of prom. I wasn’t going to prom anyway, but what if I did? I’d probably miss the fire. It effected me because that night was around holiday time and all my clothes burned, we ain’t have the money at the time for new clothes. I had to thug it out with a little help from my Closes.
Coming up from a state as small as Delaware do you feel like that comes with a certain type of support that would be different to larger areas like Atlanta or New York? Why do you think that is?

Coming from the Eastside of Wilmington, Delaware I was born into hood fame. Everybody in the hood knew who I was “lil bmiles” My Pop. Well known. By the time I stepped off the porch , it was in the studio with my OG’s. I got all my game.  I got the chance to find my own identity. I feel like everybody supports me but I don’t look for assurance. I’m so grateful for my support system we’re growing together. My life is a journey full of spirit. I believe I’m here for a purpose so I just keep my head up and eyes open. I know I’m putting on for my city. The response is satisfying and it gave me hope in our future.

Your flow is insanely unique due to how much you change and evolve it, Is this intentional? Do you think there’s value in making different types of songs/sounds?

No, it’s not intentional, it’s just the way I express myself, I let my emotions out different ways, so like sometimes me rapping aggressively is because that’s what I’m on, that’s my mood.

So if I book a studio session, I’m goin' there to do what makes me feel good. I don’t know, I don’t jus go to the studio to make “music" but when I go talk about what’s on my mind on the instrumental it’s like I can finally let go of whatever I was holding onto , then I feel better. Same thing with singing, it’s jus the different type of moods I’m in. Yea there’s value in the different songs  and sounds but they all mean the most to me.
What music did you listen to growing up? Are there any artists who influenced you into making music yourself?

Growing up I remember listening to Biggie Smalls. “Warning” I remember I wrote down his every bar and jus rapped like him. It didn't take me long to find all his other songs. I also listened to 50 Cent I had his game “Get Rich or Die Trying” and his CDs downloaded on my Xbox. And I did listen to Usher. He was smooth on the beat his hooks had a lot of soul in it. Then when I got in my teenage years I started listening to Chief Keef and Meek Mill and a bunch more but I wouldn’t say they influenced me to do it.
You have gone by the name B Miles until recently, was there a particular reason for that? Is there a difference between B and Young Miles?

I’m forever BMiles.  If you met me in person or know me than you know my name is just a name. My spirit is who you all know. I changed my name to Young Miles for future purpose I guess I didn’t know why I did it but it felt like “out with the old in with the new.” Reference to all things really.

Name one movie that you think is overrated and one movie you think is underrated...

I’m not too sure what movie is overrated (laughs) but I can say the movie Celtic Pride is underrated! That movie was a classic to me I think more people should watch it.

What NBA player’s game is similar to the way you make music? In other words, If your music was an NBA player, who would it be and why?

Giannis Antetokounmpo! Dominant and his aura is Loud! People respect him. And he didn’t turn up in the NBA until his family was able to come to the Americas to be with him while he take on his career. Family was his source of energy family was the the driving point in his journey. Same with me! My music speaks for me but my family drives me. I have to protect and take care of every single one of them and I’m jus day by day so grateful to all my fans out there rooting for me to reach the top and I’ll go as far as I can go !

Thank you again for this interview. I go by Young Miles, and this was a dope interview with my good friends at First State Studios.
