I noticed through your Instagram that you work with a lot of models. Would you say that this is your favorite kind of photography? Or are there other kinds of photography you specialize in?
Portrait photography has always been something I’ve gravitated to. Being able to capture iconic moments that creates a forever lasting memory creates a sense happiness inside of me knowing that I’m giving someone an image of themselves they’ll have forever.
I’ve tried other types of photography such as landscape and macro photography, but the feeling isn’t the same as capturing a smile.
How would you describe your career as a freelance photographer? What advantages and disadvantages have you faced during your career as a photographer? If I had to describe my career as a photographer, I would simplify if by saying “no limits.” I’m the type of photography that believes everyone can be a model. I don’t limit myself to a certain look and/or genre. The only disadvantage I experience is have a full-time career and only being able to shoot on the weekend. While working my full-time job, I often find myself gazing off in space building that next concept in my head; but having to wait until the weekend to bring that creative concept to life. The biggest and only advantage as a photographer is knowing I’m making each and every client happy. Their happiness is what gives me that drive inside to keep creating the art that I love so much. |
How and when did your interest peak in photography? What would you say that your end-goal is? About 10 years ago there was an electronic store, Best Buy’s competition that was going out of business and liquidating its stock. During one of the sales I decide to make a (at the time) a frivolous purpose which turned out to be my first semi-professional camera. After learning the technical aspects of taking a professional image, I was hooked. Photography has been a huge impact on how I express my creativity. With photography, there’s no end-goal for me. As long as I have the ability to click that shutter and use my eyes, I will continue to add new goals and “things to do” to my bucket list. |
From your point of view, what makes a good picture?
I’ve always said a good image is one that tells a story the moment you see that image. I want my images to tell my story through the way I use lighting, home I compose the shot and more importantly, how my subject is perceived.

If you could travel and take photos anywhere, where would it be?
Dubai desert! My bucket list shoot is to shoot a model in the golden sand desert wearing a red flowing extra-long train dress while pulling a camel. I’m hoping to check this dream shoot off my bucket list in 2020.
