You have been doing photography for a while now, what do you find to be the most rewarding part?
I think the most rewarding part is has always been getting the images that move my clients or myself. How has becoming a full-time freelance photographer changed your life? It's created a freedom I wish everyone could have. I was scared to leave the security of a 9-5 job like many, but it been rewarding able to use the energy towards what I'm passionate about now. |
Through Blue Lenses: Episode 3
You have a recovery project, can you explain what that is and why you do it?
Yes decided to make a photo project with people who have experienced great hardships in their lives and have overcome them. This involves them writing their story and me taking their portrait. Once I've gathered enough people, I'll be putting together a book with their pictures and stories together with the idea that it will help give hope to others who may be struggling with similar experiences.

What other art forms are you fond of?
I enjoy painting and music very much. I was a musician and painter before I migrated to photography. I still occasionally draw, paint, and play guitar, but photography has been my most fulfilling outlet. With digital photography especially, the gratification is instant.

There are a lot of pictures on your Instagram site that incorporate very unique edits to create a sort of "fantasy world". How do you create those? Yes, I guess being a painter, I always wanted to create images beyond just the standard photographs so with photoshop, I would use multiple photos that I took and then would combine them into one image. At first I had no rhyme or reason to what of what I was creating, but after a while I was able make pieces that had a theme or meaning behind them. |
What advice would you give to new photographers?
Just have fun doing it. So many seem to be after a paycheck or career in photography, but the passion has to come first for people to want your work.

What are some of the biggest/most memorable experiences being a photographer has brought you?
There's so many that I can think of, but last year was a great honor to be flown out to Los Angeles by one of my favorite companies Dream Art Studio to help them shoot a wedding for a client.
