W.H. Lung - The Up and Coming Synth Pop Trio

Click here to listen to the April edition of The Dot podcast W.H. Lung was featured on...
Meet W.H. Lung, a very unique trio from Manchester that made a seemingly overnight breakthrough into the music industry. Using synth pop sounds, W.H. Lung will have you feeling like you're stuck in this weird realm of 80's pop and alternative indie. Their songs on this debut album are generally long, but don't let that turn you off. Each song builds and releases tension, switching up the flow and sound all throughout each track. No tour dates yet from this trio, but I assume they will be touring the UK in only a matter of time.
The trio began as a studio project. They have known each other since they were in school and have been involved in different bands together. In 2017 they released their first single, "Inspiration!/Nothing is". After the single they created a live band and performed at different festivals, such as Green Man and End of the Road. Joseph E's stage presence and their simplistic synth pop sound helped them cause a stir in the music industry and kickstarted their bands career.

Their new Album: Incidental Music has sounds similar to LCD Soundsystem, Future Islands, Liquid Liquid, and many more. Their inspirations definitely show, and the similar architecture of the songs is apparent. But that isn't to say the album is nothing new. W.H Lung is able to take you back to the 80's but add their own twist to it. The simplistic synth pop sound and alternative vibe help give you a refreshing listen and keeps you involved the whole album with different changes in tempo and flow, making it an overall great album.

With a background in music and songwriting under the pseudonym Pierce Frolic, Kyle personally knows the amount of work and determination that goes into becoming an artist of any medium. Towards the end of high school, Kyle realized the lack of support in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware for the arts and underground talents. So he began digging deeper into the lives of local artists, and thus, First State Studios was born. Sobieski has a diverse musical palette and loves nothing more in life than seeing people who are passionate and courageous with what they do. "It's these people who make the world a more colorful, intimate place for everybody."
