Whether she's traveling across the country, eating new and delicious food, or walking the runway in New York City, Kendra DeAngelis finds value in staying true to yourself.
Interview by Casen Carr
From your Instagram you make it very clear you love food a little more than the average person. If you found out you had one week left to live, what would your last meals consist of?

Definitely some Italian food as I am Italian. Pasta is one of my favorite foods so is pizza, I could eat both of those everyday if I could! Oh and for dessert of course a cannoli!!

You recently graced the runway for the International Model & Talent Agency in New York. What was going through your head leading up to the event and even after it ended?

It was one of the best experiences. Leading up to attending with 1,000 contestants all over the world was really nerve-racking and scary.

Putting yourself out there to get rejected isn’t fun. But if you always think of the negative it’s not going to get you anywhere in life. I ate clean and practiced over and over and tired my best!

After it ended I was just really proud of myself as I put myself out in front of 200 of the best agents, managers and casting directors all over the world.
Do you have any advice for someone interested in modeling but doesn’t know where to start?

This is a hard question as I get it a lot from people reaching out over direct message on Instagram. It’s not a career for everyone. If you’re really wanting to try/pursue it, try getting in front of a camera. Putting on some heels and walking! Social media is becoming a platform where big brands and agents reach out, brand yourself!! You can also work with a school like I did when I was starting out!

When choosing your next place to travel to, is their food ever a factor? Have you ever traveled somewhere solely for the food?

Good question! I travel mostly with my family. Especially my mom as we are travel junkies! My next place I would love to go to is Hawaii! Yes for the food but also for how beautiful I hear it is. Have I ever traveled just for the food? I don’t think I have. Maybe some day!

What aspect of modeling do you enjoy the most?

Being 100% yourself! I have a very goofy, fun personality and modeling let’s me be confident with myself! I’m always dancing or singing on set. Modeling is a lot of hard work... What I like about that is you will get 10 no’s and then a yes. It really makes you work for it!

Hottest song/artist right now in your opinion?

Maddison beer and Billie Eilish.

Typically, people who are passionate about food see it as more than just fuel to survive… what does food and the culture of it mean to you?

I also think food is fuel to survive. I think that food can change your mood and behavior.

Best spot to eat in DE?

Charcoal Pit and Takumi !!!!!! I love them!

What inspired you to start modeling?

When I started modeling and acting I wasn’t very confident In myself. A company reached out to me asking if I could model for them. I was really confused why they wanted me.

From there I went to a school for modeling and acting and soon signed my my now agents. For me modeling and acting is an escape from life.

Feeling beautiful and sexy is a powerful thing. Yes you will always get people saying your ugly, fat and not talented enough. But if you love it and love how it makes you feel then who cares what others think about you.

Have you ever modeled for local clothing lines? If not, are there any that you’d like to work with?

I have never modeled for a local Delaware clothing brand as my agency is in New York City and I the work I get is mostly well know world wide brands. Would I like to work with any local brands ? Yes I would love to as it would be so fun. But no I don’t have any I mind that I would want to work with as I’m not really familiar with a lot.
