Westerman and His One Man Band

Meet Will Westerman. This humble, quiet and graceful man comes from West London, where he loves his coffee and indie folk. Most of the people on this site have a unique sound, we know, that's part of the reason we love to write about them. And truthfully, originality is the only reason we're hearing about these artists nowadays. Westerman, like Pronoun, the one woman band, started as a one piece band.
Westerman started out in his 20's making music, opening up for open mic nights in London, recreating storytelling songs by artists like Nick Drake and Neil Young.

But as Turnover has said in a related article, we as artists all grow up and change. Change is just us accepting that we're growing older and becoming interested in something new. So Westerman grows up and starts to change. He begins to  work with an electric producer named
Bullion the same year he won a prestigious title of London's Best Country/Folk Act at the Unsigned Music Awards in 2016. At the point, Westerman had started to realize where he finds his zen, and started going to cafes for a cup of coffee and songwriting sessions. He focus on heartfelt, touching lyrics that go with a sort of electronic-folk style. If not at a cafe, Will takes advantage of his early morning before traffic starts up and horns and people interrupt his creative thinking.
Pitchfork notes, Westerman has begun recording his first full-length in January, working with Bullion in a rented house on Portugal’s Faro coast. He hopes to bring in “really good live players” to create a more organic sound, and to convey a sense of the setting.

“The lo-fi stuff has been more out of necessity than out of choice. I’m a bit of a way off from making my orchestral album. The new record is not going to be a total departure. But it will be more of a balance, where I’m able to pick and choose more. I’ve used software because I didn’t have access to this other thing.”

Overall, we believe Westerman will take off in the next few years, as he continues to tour the world, not for concert purposes but rather songwriting.

Kyle Sobieski is a digital content producer and founder of First State Studios. With a background in music and songwriting under the pseudonym Pierce Frolic, Kyle personally knows the amount of work and determination that goes into becoming an artist of any medium. Towards the end of high school, Kyle realized the lack of support in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware for the arts and underground talents. So he began digging deeper into the lives of local artists, and thus, First State Studios was born. Sobieski has a diverse musical palette and loves nothing more in life than seeing people who are passionate and courageous with what they do. "It's these people who make the world a more colorful, intimate place for everybody."
