Memphis Rockers Come to Firefly

Proclaimed to be “your mom’s favorite band,” the Band Camino is an alternative rock group based out of Nashville, Tennessee. They had their come up on the Memphis music scene and have since made waves with their indie rock sound. Last summer, they released their most ambitious project yet, the eight track EP, “tryhard”.

The EP title itself is a callback to something that the band heard a lot during their early days.

“somewhere along the way people have called us ‘try-hards’. People thinking we took ourselves too seriously or were trying to be something we weren’t. Of course we’re tryhards. Of course we want to create something bigger than ourselves. People often use ‘try hard’ in a derogatory sense, but we’d rather own the fact that we’ve given every ounce of ourselves to making this music,” the band wrote when they dropped the tracklist online.

Since the days where these tryhards were making a name for themselves in Memphis, the Band Camino has gained a lot of steam. Coming off their first headlining tour in 2019, they will be appearing on All Time Low’s upcoming album release, “Wake Up, Sunshine” in april.

When they make a stop at Firefly as part of their summer tour, The Band Camino is sure to rock the stage with a synthy indie rock sound that is reminiscent of bands like The 1975 and Bleachers.

Pursuing a career in communications, she is interested in working with music and art and finding ways to combine that with a passion for the environment. When she gets some time away from her laptop, she’s probably spending time getting lost in the woods somewhere at a festival or on a nature trail. When it comes to music, she listens to just about anything but finds herself coming back to old school hip-hop, reggae, and techno. She’s always down for a live show and is a great plus one.
