Today I came across Prof after discovering his Andre The Giant music video and decided to listen to the his album Pookie Baby released under Rhymesayers Entertainment. Right off the bat, this album was different. The opening song, Pookie Baby, is full of eccentric lyricism and production that was indicative of the rest of the album. The unique percussion used in this song was notable and became a theme throughout the album. The eclectic instrument choice in addition to Prof's unmistakable and off-kilter flow makes for a completely one of a kind album that was genuinely fun to listen to. Every song is full of bouncy full 808s, melodic leads, and catchy choruses making most tracks easy to get stuck in your head. Literally the only downside to this album is that it does fall in to some rap album cliches with certain songs, which does not take away from the songs a ton, but does make them sound a bit more conventional. Songs like Time Bomb have many aspects of traditional rap songs, but still with Prof's unique touch.

Author: Frank McLaughlinOutside of the working world, music is something I invest a lot of time in, in more ways than one. I could spend hours on my SoundCloud timeline, Apple Music, or YouTube discovering new artists to listen to and enjoy. I have channeled this love into brief music reviews that can be found in the appropriate part of this website. I have also begun to produce music myself, learning the ins and outs of Ableton, Serum, Audacity, and other software, and it still remains one of my favorite ways to spend my free time. It has sparked a love for learning new technologies and software and that is something I hope to continue to grow with. I feel that my lifelong interest in the technical side of creative arts combined with my newfound love for analytics combine perfectly and serve me well in the marketing and advertising realm. |
