Lou Doillon is a British singer-songwriter, actress, and model. Her first acting role was in the film Kung Fu Master at only age 5. As a model she has been the face of numerous well known brands including: H&M, JBrand, and Gap. In 2010 she began her solo musical career, with the genre being described as, âHaunted Folkâ. She was already well known by the time she released her debut album, Places, in 2012 due to her success as an actress and model. The main theme in her music being love whether itâs in the name of, looking for, or the lack of it. She believes it is what connects her to people all over the world. Although French is her first language, she chooses to sing in English. In an interview it seems like the main reason for this is because it is more ambiguous. If she were to sing in French, tenses would give away if she were talking about a male or female. French would also give away if she was singing about something she wished had happened versus something that actually did. Currently Lou is touring in France with two California shows scheduled for June, hoping there are more future US dates to come! Her third solo album, Soliloquy, was released on February 1st. â
Doillon's music inspiration started from her father. She said he would always say "sit down, shut up and listen to the music ". Seems a little harsh but apparently it worked out for the better! In 2010 she began her solo career, and only 2 years later she was able to sign her first recording deal with Barclay (Universal Music France) for 3 albums. Her first album Places was recorded in France in he Studio la Seine. It took 15 days to record and was a huge success, reaching 3rd on the French charts. Her second album started being made in January of 2015. The recording lasted a month in the Montreal studio: Hotel2Tango. Lay Low was released on October 9, preceded by the single "Where to Start". Lastly is where we are today. Soliloquy was released on February 1st, and contains 12 emotional, love filled songs that are super pleasant and easy on the ears, you can't miss it.
