Lil Tecca: Young but Grown

A young superstar, he’s already got the style and swag to prove it. At only 17 years old, Lil Tecca has seen more mainstream success than many artists at any age. After a massive debut of his song, “Ransom” on the popular YouTube page Lyrical Lemonade, the young rapper released his debut mixtape that peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. Born in Queens in New York City, he was originally looking forward to a basketball career. That is however until a roast session on Xbox live actually inspired his first song. The song’s since been taken down, and his sister was the first one in his family to find out about his secret song-making.
Although his parents didn’t approve of the lyrics, Lil Tecca (real name Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe) says that his hard music style is just for fun. He talks about the street life in his music despite not living it, but that doesn’t take away from his popularity and ability to make hits. He actually doesn’t feel pressured to be a “New York Rapper” as many people don’t know that he’s from Queens and don’t know what to expect when they hear his songs. In an interview with a YouTube channel “Cufboys,” he explains that his stage name actually came from an Instagrammer “Tecca” and she called him Lil Tecca as a friendly joke. It stuck, and now he’s amassed 3.1 million followers on Instagram, and many fan pages that are dedicated to not only his music, but fashion sense.

First State Studios Top 3 Songs We Hope To See Performed At Firefly

1. Ransom
The music video is everything you wouldn’t expect… and more. If the performance is 1/10th as creative as the video, it’s a show you don’t want to miss

2. Somebody
His collaboration with Internet Money and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is a love song with the same cool vibes that make you wanna chill out in the car with your boo.

IDK
Single after the release of his first album, "We Love You Tecca" with some background instruments that sound almost Spanish x Techno… if that’s a thing? It’s catchy and will definitely be on repeat even when you turn it off.

Rayven is finishing up her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at the University of Delaware. While she’s not the quintessential radio station intern, the diversity in her experiences makes her valuable in unexpected ways. She’s worked at a beef and sheep farm for several years, a government research lab studying stinkbugs, and even in construction. In our past projects together, she hosted a dating show and is now organizing influencers for Firefly. She hopes to one day be a zoo veterinarian, and in the meantime, runs her own ‘scandalously informative’ Instagram, “Info_Hoe_00” to teach others about health and research using aesthetic appeal.  She enjoys traveling out of the country, exploring unique local nightlife, and working out. Catch her on Instagram at @rayven.luxe for cute farm animals and travel photos!
