An Indie Twist On Rock N Roll

If you are a fan of the Netflix series “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, then you’ve most likely heard K.flay’s top hit “Blood in the Cut” before, even if you weren’t aware of it. Kristine Flaherty, a.k.a K.flay, built her career up through the releasing mixtapes in the underground rap circuit. She is now leaning her music towards a more Rock vibe, which truly comes forward in “Blood in the Cut.”

Her debut album Life as a Dog was released in 2014, which peaked on the Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart at No. 2 and Billboard’s rap album chart at No.14. She signed with Interscope Records in 2016, and has since been nominated for two awards- the first one being the 60th Grammy Awards for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Rock Song for “Blood in the Cut.”
Artists similar to K.flay: MISSIO, Joywave, MC Lars, Foreign Air, Watsky, and AWOLNATION.

K.flay has said that her music draws from lo-fi pop and hip-hop with an indie component to it. Her newest album, Solutions, was released in July of 2019. K.flay’s newest song “Bad Memory” is featured in the newly released DC Film “Birds of Prey” soundtrack, and “This Baby Don’t Cry” in Netflix series 13 Reasons Why (Season 3) Soundtrack.
