âââJames Hersey is an incredible musician from the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria. Not only intelligent in songwriting and playing instruments, James was raised bilingually. Looking back, heâll tell you his childhood was influenced heavily by guitar-driven music handed down by his father, an American expat. James played in various bands throughout his youth, and eventually abandoned a jazz-guitar degree to focus on his career as a singer-songwriter. Take that as inspiration. The moment that changed everything for this artist was the summer of 2014 when a tropical-house remix of his song "Coming Over" blew up all over the internet. The track drew the attention of EDM heavyweights Kygo and Dillon Francis, and their subsequent collaborative remake of Jamesâs tune climbed to number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart, earning all three artists an RIAA Gold certification in the USA. WOW.
Not only can he play the guitar and sing, but Hersey started off on the cello and drums. He was involved with his school choir and was in multiple different punk bands. His discography starts off with two smaller EP's in 2010 and 2012. His first official full-length album has just arrived in 2019 titled "Innververse".
If James Hersey is for you, some similar artists to look into would be Foster the People, John Mayer, Gotye, Sam Smith, Gavin Haley, Disclosure, and many more. His wide range of talents and inspirations make him the unique artist that he is, and being that he only has one album out so far means this is just the beginning of his journey.
