Hot Flash Heatwave exploded through a lovely website by the name of Reddit. Their versatile sound, at times reminiscent of psychedelia, dream pop, and post-punk, demonstrates a dynamic range of songwriting prowess centered around consistently infectious, sun-soaked melodies and guitar hooks. Like trust me, these guys are everything you want. And just to prove how versatile they can be, the members each contribute songs and share the lead. This allows for so much freedom and variety, making each song different than the last. Sky So Blue which is featured in this episode made its way to the Hot Tracks list on Apple Music. Their new material is said to be even more psychedelic, and more dreamier than past projects. And to that I say, bring it on. Take me on a trip. â
Hot Flash Heat Wave grew up in Davis, California. They all met in high school and based the name of their group off the weather they experienced in San Francisco. In 2015, they recorded their debut album titled Neopolitan. Two years later, they announced their second album titled âSoaked, produced by Jeff Saltzman. Since then, the group has released two new songs: One in November of 2018 titled "Dreaming of U", and another in early 2019 titled "Sky So Blue". If the idea of "Surfer meets pop punk" sounds like something you'd enjoy, definitely give them a listen.
