Gemini Rising is a three-piece band project consisting of Fiora Cutler, Lester Mendez, and Marco Niemerski who all met in Los Angeles. They report having felt instant chemistry between each other, bonding through their love of 80s synth pop. Which honestly sounds like the one of the funniest ways to build a friendship. I can just imagine the trio being so giddy over different parts of a song. Over a year, moving between Berlin and Los Angeles, the trio created music that is considered to be retro-futuristic pop. The band has also seen some radio play already in Los Angeles, quite early in their career.
When asked about the friendship that started through their shared interest in synth, Fiora stated Lester played the synth "as if everything he was playing was an extension of his brain." The band as a whole believes 80s synth pop is so important to today's music and society, because 80s era brought out the best pop songs of all time. Which is arguable, but at the same time, they're not exactly wrong either.
