Turnover, Doing Shoegaze Best

Formed back in 2009, Turnover has been steadily growing, but for the most part, they're an exclusive band with exclusive die hard fans who just really enjoy their music. Everybody feels so good and is so pleasant at their shows. Turnover produces the sound of relaxation on the beach. Not to mention, they come from Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Starting out as emo and pop punk, the band has found new routes towards indie rock and dream pop of course. These guys do it best. Seeing them live isn't much of a performance, besides the fact they sound exactly like the recording which is always a huge plus. If you're still wondering what shoegaze is, you might want to read this article that helps better explain it.

Currently, as of 2019, the band is touring with Turnstile and selling out shows. Tickets in Philadelphia were over $100.00 in comparison to when they first dropped at $30.00.

In reference to changing their sound from emo to dream pop, Dempsey who plays the bass for the band said “I think that naturally, we all start to find new music, and then we’re obviously just growing up. When we started the band, we were fresh out of high school, Casey [Getz] was still in high school when we first toured. But you just grow up, and the things you think you like that meant the world to you still mean a lot to you, but you find something else that means the world to you. You’re just growing up and changing, and you can’t do the same thing forever. That’s had an influence on us.”
In an era of mainstream rock where testing the waters can be a death sentence for bands, it’s encouraging to see a wave of bands come up that feel comfortable and confident enough in themselves to change at their own pace, says Steven Keehner. If anything, it may just be exactly what the genre needs.

First State Studios Top 3 Songs We Hope To See Performed At Firefly

1. Humming
The all time classic by Turnover.

2. Take My Head
Non-stop grooving. Non-stop thinking about my ex.

3. Hello Euphoria

Honestly, we'd be content if they just play Peripheral Visions over and over again. Their new music's good but we're always bumping this in our offices.

Kyle Sobieski is a digital content producer and founder of First State Studios. With a background in music and songwriting under the pseudonym Pierce Frolic, Kyle personally knows the amount of work and determination that goes into becoming an artist of any medium. Towards the end of high school, Kyle realized the lack of support in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware for the arts and underground talents. So he began digging deeper into the lives of local artists, and thus, First State Studios was born. Sobieski has a diverse musical palette and loves nothing more in life than seeing people who are passionate and courageous with what they do. "It's these people who make the world a more colorful, intimate place for everybody."
