How to buy Turnips Knowing how the turnip system works in Animal Crossing is a great way to make some major bells in the game. So summarize how turnips work, for those who do not already know, turnips are essentially a version of the stock market in the game. You buy them for a specific amount, and you hold on to them to hopefully sell them back at a better price than what you paid for them. A few rules to keep in mind about buying and selling turnips. They can only be bought on Sundays from Daisy Mae, a new character in Animal Crossing, who took over the Sow Joan’s Stalk Market from her grandmother. Daisy will be walking around your island every Sunday from 5AM-12PM, so there is only a small opening for when you can purchase them. When you interact with Daisy for the first time, she will introduce herself and explain how the turnip system works to you. She will then ask you how many turnips you would like to buy. She will sell them to you in bundles only, and will tell you the price for what she is selling them at. How many you would like to buy is up to you, but keep in mind how much money you have at the time of purchase, and how much you can hold in your inventory when you go to buy. A screen will pop up where you can input how many you would like to buy, and it will show you how much the bundles will be based upon the number you input. After purchasing the turnips, you will have one week to sell them back to Timmy and Tommy in Nook’s Cranny before they go bad and are essentially worthless. The only thing that they will be good for at that point is to attract ants and flies, which can help with collecting insects for Blathers and the museum. How to Sell Turnips Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny are the ones that you will be selling the turnips back to during the course of the week. The only exception is that they will not take turnips on Sundays, for obvious reasons. There will be a different selling price each day that they will take them back for. They will have one price in the morning, and then the price changes after 12PM. When you talk to Tommy or Timmy in the shop, you would select the response to ask for Turnip prices, which would prompt them to tell you what they are. The game for you is to gamble whether the price they are selling at currently will be the best price during that week. It would also be beneficial for you to check with your friends to see what theirs are selling at, as they could have a better price, and yes, you can sell your turnips on someone else’s island. There are other websites and reddit pages that have been created by players to help with the turnip market. On these pages, players can post Dodo codes to visit their island to sell turnips from their price point to other players, offering that you make a small exchange with them once you visit. This is a route that you can take if your willing to take the risk, but keep in mind that these pages are not certified sites by Nintendo, so you would have to use them at your own risk.
The weird thing about turnips is that you can not store them in your inventory inside your house. You can not plant them either, so the only thing that you can do with them is either hold them in your personal inventory, or drop them on the ground somewhere. This is most likely so that players remember to sell them.
