Fontaines D.C. is selling out shows left and right including their show close to our home, Philadelphia. Not to mention one of their top songs on the debut album is titled Liberty Belle....
You wouldn't be alone if you listen to this punk band and immediately think of The Ramones. The five members come from overseas, out of Dublin, Ireland. Their debut album has made the charts both in the United States as well as the motherland they come from. Fontaines would like to personally thank their manager who apparently, as they phrased it, "kicked them in the arse 3 years ago which led them to all of this."
Frontman Grian Chatten explains his view on songwriting, as he prefers to let his writing be free, rather than keeping it tight and orthodox. Chatten treats his writing similar to an offspring, as he wants it to grow on its own, without the influence of established order that he experienced when studying songwriting in college. Thanks to an interview with The Austin Chronicle, Chatten states, "I view my writing as a child that I want to let grow up in the wilderness," details Chatten. "I don't want to send it to a particular school".
The five-membered phenom of Fontaines D.C. carries a sound that is unique to the current state of music, as it is very clear that they make the music that comes naturally to them, without confining to anyone's expectations.
