Brand Name: Delaware Apparel Your Name(s): Jake Buchler and Pierson Roenke Location: Fenwick Island, DE Where in Delaware is your company located? Do you sell your products to the whole state of Delaware? Or even out of the state? We are located in Fenwick Island, but we love connecting with and creating products that the entire state will enjoy. One of our favorite groups to connect with are Delawareans that now live in other states, but are looking for a way to show that First State pride! |
How would you describe the overall theme or style of Delaware Apparel?
Quality, comfortable clothing you will be proud to wear. We do this as a hobby because of the amazing people we get to meet, and the fun we have giving people a product they are proud to wear. We are just your typical Delaware dudes. Jake is a school teacher and Pierson works at the tower in Cape Henlopen talking with ships.

When did you start the clothing line? How were you inspired to start the company?
The company was started in 2016 while Pierson was stationed in California with the military. He was pretty homesick and looking for a way to connect with the community back here in Delaware. He made a few samples, sent them back to friends and family, and from there it just kept building. From your Instagram, I see that you sell t-shirts and hats. Are there any other kinds of apparel you sell? Right now focused mainly on hats and shirts. We have koozies and stickers as well. We even have a few duck calls. We are always working on new items and looking for local collaborations. Our next phase is making a few different beanies and also getting into some kids gear. |
Who is the target demographic for your clothing line?
Anyone that has the same love affair with this State as we do….whether you live here now, used to live here, wished you live here, or just love being associated with things that come in First.

So, is there a group of you that started the company? What can you tell us about your team at Delaware Apparel? Jake was one of the biggest early supporters of the company while it was getting started. Then, when Pierson left the military in 2017 and went to live in Puerto Rico for a while, the company took a temporary break for about a year, but when he got back to Delaware this year, Jake was filled with ideas and motivation to get things up and running again. He’s a 3rd grade teacher at Lord Baltimore Elementary and so when he’s not teaching (or cutting grass and removing awnings...his other business!) he’s scheming up ways to promote the Local Lifestyle. Our other team members are Jessica Nowacki, a local photographer and supporter of the crew’s crazy ideas, and Michelle Roenke, Pierson’s mom and the backbone of the company who was handling all the inventory while he was living out of the State. I noticed that in your Instagram bio, it says that Delaware Apparel was voted "302nd Best Apparel Company in Delaware." What can you tell us about this experience?
Haha, we have a pretty awful sense of humor...we’re not even sure if their are 302 apparel companies in Delaware, but even if there are, we’re just honored to be on the list with them.
